Honest Diapers Review – The Packaging Was Eye-Catching

Do Honest Co. diapers compare or even have a spot next to some of its top competitors?

They seemed to have wiggled their way onto store shelves everywhere, but are they worth it and would you buy their products for your baby or toddler? Well, let’s see if they hold up in this Honest diaper review.

When I decided to try Honest diapers, it was because my go-to brand, Huggies was out of my son’s size and I needed something asap. I chose them because they looked pleasing. The packaging was eye-catching, the claims of natural ingredients and free from was fantastic, and I thought, “well, maybe this could be a good change; maybe I will like these diapers.”

I wanted to like them.

Unfortunately, for me, they weren’t what I was looking for and I only ended up using one from the box. Total waste of money. But there’s something you should know before buying Honest, they run on the smaller size. Had I known this beforehand, I wouldn’t have bought the size 5 that I did, and even though my son isn’t on the chunky size, he doesn’t have a plump but so I like to buy his diapers where they aren’t fitting him too tight.

The diaper is a good product.

The Honest Co. makes good diapers. They were super soft with cute patterns, cost-efficient, and as per the packaging, they are free from latex, chlorine processing, fragrances, and lotions.

People have mixed feelings about the diapers, as did I but for me, it was more of a sizing issue and nothing else, but honestly, I didn’t use the diapers long enough to weigh out any of the other cons that people are complaining about so check out some verified reviews below.

Here is what Honest says about their product:

Our new and best-ever baby diapers have arrived! These super-absorbent Honest diapers are made of naturally derived, sustainable materials, and they’re gentle on your baby’s delicate skin. Now featuring an improved fit and advanced leak protection like never before, this super-soft diaper is designed to perform. Oh, and did we mention how adorable they are? Our Super Club Boxes also contain two stylish prints each. We took all the things you need (and want!) in a diaper—advanced leak protection, a secure fit, softness, and comfort—and made it Honestly amazing with hypoallergenic and sustainable materials. Our diapers’ TrueAbsorb Core holds 17 times its weight in fluid and has a super-soft cloudlike liner and an Honestly Secure fit featuring stretchy side panels and sure-fit leg cuffs. And we offer stylish prints for boys and girls, with adorable options for every occasion! We love our babies. We love your babies. That’s why we err on the side of caution when it comes to ingredient selection, doing our best to avoid chemicals of concern.

People are complaining.

I went to Amazon, my go-to when looking for great products for my son for good prices and where I get to read honest reviews, and there seemed to be a pattern here. Diapers are too thin, they are leaking after only a couple of hours, they have a weird smell, they are just all-around a sucky product. Fortunately, I had the advantage of purchasing mine from Target so I didn’t get the Amazon blues but take note that if you order your diapers from Amazon and there’s a problem with them, The Honest Company will not help you. Here’s one review that verified that.

Monika:

“I have been using honest diapers all of my daughter’s life and never had an issue. On our most recent box, there were tons of manufacturing defects and I am really disappointed. I reached out directly to Honest Co and they said they wouldn’t be able to help because I purchased it on amazon. SOOO disappointed and frustrated that I have to throw so many diapers away and they refuse to help.”

Biggest disappointment: Rashes.

Parents are complaining about rashes more than ever. The claim is that Honest diapers leave their babies bum wet, it isn’t as super absorbent as we want it to be and in turn, the baby’s bums end up with rashes. I’ve read countless reviews that state this claim and it can’t just be because they were ordered from Amazon. Amazon doesn’t change the ingredients in the diapers nor do they alter the product in any way.

Verified Rash Reviews:

Kit4Kat:

“These diapers are absorbent but moisture does not seal in. Meaning once your baby has peed even a little the moisture is held against their privates and if you don’t change the diaper every 5 to 10 minutes your baby will get a rash. At least my baby did.. she has sensitive skin which is why I chose these diapers in the first place. Defeating the purpose of spending extra money on looking for diapers for sensitive skin.”

Andrew McCright:

“Unfortunately, this diaper gave our 2-year-old a rash. She only wears them at night and she likes them a lot, but I’m sadly returning and going back to the seventh generation. Also, the straps are tighter than they should be for the size 5 – I was surprised by the lack of stretch. The straps also stick so tightly that if you need to move them again it might just rip off entirely. Maybe a good thing if you have a toddler who tries to take off her own diaper, but not so much when you’re trying to diaper a toddler who keeps moving around and it’s hard to get the placement right the first time. Other than those gripes, they’re very soft, the patterns are cute and no absorbency issues even 12 hours overnight.”

Catt:

“I wanted to love these! The print is so cute and feminine and that’s where the positives end! After two days of wearing these diapers, my baby already has a rash that is causing her pain and discomfort! Now, I have the rest of this box (and one on it’s the way I’ll need to return) that I can’t use! It’s hard to find diapers that work for us because of her sensitive skin. The only ones that have worked the best for us are Huggies’ special delivery.”

My recommendation: Yes. With reservations.

If you are considering buying Honest diapers, I have one suggestion. Buy them straight from Honest Company. If you have any issues you can reach out to them. Unfortunately for this company, if you purchase them somewhere else you’ll get no help. The upside with Target and Walmart is you can return them and claim product defects. With Amazon, I’m not sure how that would work. Save yourself the hassle, order from Honest.

I would only order from Honest directly, always size up, and change my child’s diaper every other hour. If this is not for you then I wouldn’t go with them. Try Huggies or Pampers instead.

  1. One thing I can say about diapers from my experience is that it doesn’t matter what reviews and people say as it all comes down to how your baby accepts the diaper. I had used many high quality diapers and my little ones didn’t like them and left them with an uncomfortable feeling while other cheaper ones were far better to them. My advice is to try different brands and see how your baby reacts. Only then you can know what is best for your little one.

    1. Yes, I agree. That’s what we had to do with our little one and in the end, Huggies was the best. Nothing else seemed to work quite right. Thanks so much for commenting.
